Back Office/Regional Service Centers
An affordable and available workforce, competitive real estate costs and state-of-the-art communications systems make Central California the ideal location for call center, customer service and regional office operations. The available work force and labor costs provide incentives for call centers and other labor-intensive operations. (Central California labor costs can be as much as two to five dollars less per hour.)
The Red Cross has established a new Call Center in Bakersfield that will eventually employ 2,000 people. In Kings County, a new 300-person telecom relay service was established by Communication Services for the Deaf. Cingular, Cigna Health Care and State Farm—each employing more than 1,000 employees—have also discovered that Central California is a great place to do business and provides their employees with a high quality of life.
